Cups in Kitchen

Soup mug

Oversized mugs big enough to fit your spoon in are perfect for hot chocolate too, with enough room for squirty cream, chocolate sprinkles and marshmallows. Yum!

Insulated cup

Essential for those who can’t function without their morning coffee or tea, but love their sleep too. Usually made from stainless steel and with a lid to prevent spills, the insulated mug keeps your drink warm even in the coldest weather and allows you to sip your tea or coffee on the move.

Measuring cup

American recipes tend to measure quantities in cups. Take the hassle out of working out the equivalent in grams by investing in a set of measuring cups. See our STÄM set of 4 cups.

Baby beaker

The baby beaker has helped floors stay clean for years by preventing spills when children are learning to drink from a cup. To give your baby a better grip, get one with large handles on either side – like the one included in our FABLER 3-piece eating set.

Irish coffee cup

The ultimate after-dinner treat is an Irish coffee. To get the true experience you need a clear glass mug with a handle. To make the perfect cup:

  • warm the mugs in hot water
  • add black coffee
  • mix in brown sugar to taste
  • stir in a shot of your favourite whisky
  • pour thick cream over the back of a spoon, gently raising the spoon further away from the coffee as you pour to get the cream to sit on top of the coffee

Espresso cup

Take your coffee in true Milan style – as a shot. As espresso is more concentrated than standard coffee, you need a smaller cup. The IKEA 365+ espresso cups and saucers come in 4 great colours – dark grey, light turquoise, white and beige.

Coffee cup

Too much caffeine can cause a whole host of undesirable symptoms – from difficulty sleeping to a dodgy tummy! Proper coffee cups are smaller than mugs, so you get just the right amount. For a more elegant coffee, buy cups that come with saucers too, like the DINERA coffee cup and saucer 6 pack.

Mug

Tea really does taste better from your favourite mug – psychologists say it’s got something to do with enjoying a ritual. Everyone has a different opinion on the best kind of mug, but we think the ÖDMJUK teacup and saucer comes pretty close – nice wide handle for maximum grip and enough room on the saucer for a couple of biscuits. Someone stick the kettle on…

Eggcup

OK, so not technically a cup, but where would we be without these handy little inventions for holding our breakfast egg while we get on with preparing soldiers for dunking?

China cup

For true refinement it has to be a bone china cup. Lots of people say a cuppa tastes better in them – and they make afternoon tea look wonderful.
