Camping

1. Comfy chairs.

The camping experience is fun, but can be tiring. Having something to rest on is vital. Lightweight and foldable doesn't mean boring and uncomfortable. Check out our affordable and fun HÄRÖ chairs, or even the BROMMÖ recliner for an afternoon nap.

2. Flat Surfaces.

For safety and convenience it is important to remember that on grass, nearly everything falls over. Kit yourself out with a folding table and bring a bit of civilisation to your camp kitchen. You could have something with split levels, like the KVARNÖ table, a simple, attractive design like the BOLLÖ or even a gateleg table for something different, like our APPLARÖ.

3. Cooking equipment.

Whether you opt for a disposable barbecue or a four hob gas cooker, having something hot to eat or drink will always be welcome when camping. You can do a surprising amount with just a small barbecue grill, so don't get carried away for the sake of it. Think about exactly what you need and can afford... and also how much room you've got in the car!

4.Cooking Utensils.

If you prefer a barbecue over a gas hob, you will need some specialist tools for the chef. Coals will kick off a lot of heat, so long-handled utensils are best. And don't forget the novelty apron.

5. Cutlery.

Not only is plastic cutlery a false economy, it is also bad for the environment. You can get yourself a cutlery set that is fun and stylish for next to nothing and you will use them again and again. Keep a set just for camping; you'll be amazed how affordable they are.

6. Glasses.

You might want to consider plastic cups and plastic glasses given that breakages can easily occur when transporting the real thing. If you're confident with your packing skills, however, our SOLBRÄND range of great value wine glasses are well worth a look.

7. Plates.

Easily overlooked, the humble plastic plate stores easily and will save you from having to eat out of the pan. You should definitely consider hard plastic plates rather than disposable ones, however, for the sake of the environment.

8. Food storage.

Sealable plastic containers are the camp cook's best friend. And, if you've got room for it, a cool box will bring a great deal of civility to your camp kitchen.

9. Lighting.

Once the kids are tucked up in their sleeping bags, it's time to enjoy a balmy summer evening with a glass of wine... if you could find the glasses. It soon gets dark and talking to each other by torchlight is hardly romantic. Do it in style and invest in some outdoor candles, a gas lamp or, for the environmentally conscious, some solar powered garden lights. Better still, check out BRÖDHULT range of lanterns for tealights.

10. Tin opener & Corkscrew.

It's a cliché, but forgetting these items happens to all of us at some point. You can go to a camping shop and buy something that folds up and fits in your pocket. But those things never work very well. They're not very big... you might as well make life easy on yourself and take the real thing.
