Where can I download the planner from?
You can access the Kitchen Planner from any of the images on the site that look like this:
One thing to note is that the planner is not downloaded onto your computer; the only download is a small Flash plug-in to enable the software to run.
You will need an internet connection to enable the program to run.
I’ve saved some designs in the past, how can I see them now?
We keep hold of your designs for 365 days so anything saved within that timeframe can be accessed by logging your customer account
Where can I buy the kitchen I’ve designed?
Once you’re happy with your plan, save it straight onto the IKEA server so that you can pick it up at your nearest IKEA store. Then get final planning advice and assistance from us before purchasing the products you need to make your virtual room a reality.
What spec does my PC/Mac need to be?

System requirements
1 gigahertz (GHz) equivalent or faster, 32MB Graphic card, 1024 x 768 Display resolution, Broadband Internet connection, Win XP or higher.
Windows Browsers: Internet Explorer 7.0 / Firefox 3.5.7 or higher.
Operating system :Windows XP SP2 or higher. MacOS X 10.5 Leopard or higher (Intel only).
Mac Browsers: Firefox 3.5.7+ / Safari 4.0.3+
Three plug-ins are available: one for Windows Internet Explorer, one for Mozilla Firefox and one for Intel Mac's running Leopard (Safari and Firefox). When accessing the URL for the IKEA Home Planner, a page for downloading the appropriate plug-in will be showed if not already installed. It is the same plug-in used for all countries and languages.
For installing the Mac plug-in follow the instructions on the screen. Here with some additional info:
- Download (save) the disk image file 2020PluginInstaller.dmg
- Mount the disk image (open/run the downloaded file) if not mounted automatically
- Find the 2020PluginInstaller window (might be behind the window on top)
- Drag the lego piece to the folder (if you do not have admin privileges you will be prompted to authenticate)
- Restart the browser (it is not enough to close the browser window, you need to restart the browser application)
- Access the same link and you will now see the Start button and be able to start planning your room
- How long does it take to design a kitchen?
How long have you got? There’s no right or wrong answer here but what’s great about the planner is that you can save the design and then keep coming back to make tweaks.
As a rough guide. a basic, small kitchen may only take an hour to design whereas a more complex one might take 2 or 3 hours.
How do I get started?
The first step is to open the Kitchen Planner
To save, open, or e-mail a drawing, please log in with your IKEA internet profile or IKEA FAMILY profile. If you do not have a profile, you can create one from the links at the foot of this page.
Will I be able to buy my own designs afterwards?
Absolutely! When you save them, they’re saved to IKEA servers so that you can access them in store. Alternatively you can print them out to help you find your dream kitchen!
Why should I use the planner?
The Kitchen Planner lets you become an interior designer. You can select your choice of furniture and fit it to the exact measurements of your kitchen.
You can view it in 3D and print with all of the measurement, plus you’ll be able to see how much it will cost.
Once completed, you can save your designs to the IKEA server so that you can buy your dream kitchen in your local store
